A lot of anglers dream about Alaska but hesitate because they don’t have a partner ready to commit to a float trip. It’s understandable—but unnecessary. Some of the strongest, most memorable guests we’ve ever had stepped off the floatplane alone.
Here’s the truth: on these rivers, you’re never really solo.
Our boats carry two anglers, each with a dedicated guide. Camps stay small—usually 4 to 8 guests—so you share meals, stories, and long days on the water with people who understand exactly why you traveled this far to chase wild rainbow trout in a place that still feels untouched.
After more than 30 years guiding these systems, we’ve watched quiet solo travelers arrive with a little uncertainty and leave with new fishing partners, new friends, and in many cases, a standing date to return the following season. Some keep coming back alone, but they’re never fishing alone.
The river doesn’t care whether you showed up with a buddy. Neither do we. If you’ve been waiting for someone else to commit, it might be time to stop waiting.
2026 Trips That Fit Solo Anglers Perfectly
Kanektok River — July 16–22
Prime mouse fishing. The week everyone asks about. Rainbows feeding on the surface, hammering topwater patterns you can see from across the channel. If you’ve never fished a mouse, this is the week to change that. If you have, you already know.
Kanektok River — August 31–September 7
Late-season trophy potential. Cooler nights, fewer bugs, and fish feeding hard before winter. Rainbows, char, and silvers pushing into the system. The tundra shifts color, and the river feels bigger, quieter, more yours.

Moraine Creek (Alagnak System)
We’re looking for a few more anglers to round out these trips—ideal for solo travelers joining an established group. Technical water, big rainbows, and some of the most productive pocket water in Alaska. Smaller stream feel, serious fish.

Goodnews River — Prime Coho Dates
Fresh, chrome-bright silvers at their peak. Resident rainbows and char gorging on eggs. Faster water, different structure, and a rhythm all its own. When the timing lines up, the Coho action is unforgettable.
